Major Nikon meetings scheduled for next month (March 2023) – I think we are getting closer to the Z8 announcement

I received this tweet from a reader (thanks):

I was also told that some Asian Nikon dealers will be meeting in Macau next month for a new product presentation/training.

This timeline matches my previous Nikon Z8 reports indicating that the new camera is expected in the Spring of 2023:

The upcoming/rumored Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera will compete with the new Sony a7RV and is expected in Spring 2023

New: Optic Explorer lens simulator/lens database website

Nikon Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens

Nikon Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens

This week I will try to catch up on all the latest Nikon patents. Coincidently the folks from Optic Explorer contacted me about their new lens simulator/lens database website:

“I thought your readers might be interested to know that when interesting new Nikon (or other photographic/optical) patents emerge, they can use this web application to simulate the characteristics and performance of lenses: http://www.opticexplorer.com

There’s also a sizable database of existing lens designs that can be searched for and simulated. For example:

Show me all Nikon 50mm lenses

You can explore the lens database and tinker with lenses, light sources etc. without logging in or creating an account. If you want to create your own library of lens designs, you can create an account to store and share your designs. In either case, it’s free to use.”

All Nikon lenses can be found here. Here are a few Optic Explorer screenshots:
