RED added Nikon RAW (N-RAW) support (now in beta) to their RedCine-X Pro professional-grade software application:
For many “traditional” Nikon users (myself included), RED is a whole new world we are not familiar with but need to get used to. Here is the email I got from a reader (thanks!):
“Nikon/Red tree is bearing new fruit!
Wasn’t aware of this free software that Red provides for pre-processing and transcoding their camera RAW camera files. Now the software supports NRaw (NEV) files for output to a variety common of SDR and HDR formats. And to my surprise, one can transcode NEV files to a variety of formats in ProRes on a Windows PC.
I’ve only done some preliminary testing with the program, but it could be very handy for those who use an NLE that doesn’t support NEV files. The program only supports R3D and NEV files as input. A lot of features to unpack, but you can do clip by clip or batch processing on files before loading into your NLE of choice. There are a full range of image processing controls available and the program makes good use of nVidia GPU’s.”

“RedCine-X Pro is a professional-grade software application specifically designed to transcode and manipulate raw video footage captured by RED digital cinema cameras, allowing users to perform advanced color grading and image adjustments on REDCODE RAW (R3D) files while preserving the original RAW format, essentially acting as a dedicated post-production tool for RED camera users; it enables non-destructive editing and maintains metadata like timecode and white balance during the conversion process.”
