Nikon released its second-quarter financial results for the year ending March 2027:
In its latest FY2027 second-quarter and first-half financial results (for the period ended September 30, 2026, released November 5, 2026), Nikon delivered a consolidated first-half turnaround with ¥334.5 billion in revenue (up 7% year-over-year), a Q2 operating profit of ¥9.9 billion (bringing first-half operating profit to ¥9.0 billion against a previously projected ¥5.5 billion deficit), and a 50% upward revision to its full-year operating profit forecast to ¥16.5 billion driven by gains in its Precision Equipment, Healthcare, and Industrial segments.
The Nikon Imaging Products Business has emerged as the primary headwind for the company’s top-line trajectory, prompting Nikon to trim its full-year consolidated revenue forecast by ¥10.0 billion to ¥722.0 billion and cut its second-half revenue outlook from ¥396.0 billion to ¥387.5 billion. Despite foreign exchange tailwinds and recent hardware releases such as the compact full-frame Z5II C mirrorless camera and the flagship NIKKOR Z 120-300mm F2.8 TC VR S lens, the Imaging Products division continues to face downward pressure on both revenue and operating profit due to softer-than-expected camera and lens sales volumes heading into the holiday shopping season, ongoing market demand contraction in China, and elevated memory component costs.
Unit sales fell to 360,000 digital camera-interchangeable lens (DCIL) bodies (−120,000) and 530,000 interchangeable lenses (−140,000).
