Your next Nikon DSLR camera could be made in Laos

Nikon announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility for DSLR cameras in Laos. The factory will have 800 employees, 10,000 m2 floor space and is scheduled to start operations in October 2013:

Rumor: next Nexus 5 phone to have a Nikon camera module

This rumors comes from phonearena.com: the upcoming Google Nexus 5 smart phone will have a Nikon camera module inside that will feature a mysterious ”triple camera sensor”. Google has been promising to include an “insanely great camera” in the next Nexus phones:

Nikonos RS lenses modified to work with modern Nikon DSLR camera

The Nikonos RS system was one of the best underwater camera solutions back in the 90′s. The product line was discontinued in 1996. Microsoft and Nikon sign Android patent agreement

  Nikon and Microsoft signed a patent agreement allowing Nikon to use Microsoft’s patents involving cameras running on the Android operating system. Last year Nikon released their first Android based camera – the Coolpix S800c and it seems that they are planning to concentrate on that platform in the future.

Nikon to announce a high end compact camera: 16MP DX sensor, fixed 28mm f/2.8 lens, Expeed 2 processor

I received a very short and crypted tip that Nikon will announce a new compact camera with 16.2 effective megapixels DX-sized CMOS sensor, fixed 28mm f/2.8 (or maybe even f/2.0) lens and EXPEED 2 image processing engine. This could very well be the camera that will be announced this week and I seriously doubt that the D7000 replacement will be introduced as well.
