If it has the same magic as the current one, then yes, I’ll stand in line for it!

Before anyone gets too excited or starts spouting off about something, be advised that if you click the link, you will see that it is, indeed, a Photoshop job and was intended as such :)

When it ships and I have the money it will have a very nice home in my bag!

    I know it’s a rendering – I know it’s a rendering – I know….

    I still want it.

You know, I just don’t get posts like this. A rumor is one thing, it’s initially neither confirmed nor denied conclusively. A flat out rendering is NOT a rumor, not does it hold any real interest or intrigue. There are all kinds of renderings on the net of fictional items/people, doesn’t make them interesting in this context.

This is the result of what you call a lull in the rumor cycle… anything is better than nothing as long as its labeled as such.

I should add that it doesn’t even look good (it’s a good rendering, just not a very good looking lens). If I’m spending that kind of cash on a lens it better look and feel professional. The non-S version is a tank and looks it.

So you would prefer looking at it instead of shooting with it?

I agree with Monty. I was trying to sell a 85mm 1.8D and a potential buyer said he didn’t want my copy because it wasn’t pretty and his “Pro” friends would make fun of him for buying a “not so pretty” copy. WTF. I didn’t know there was a Photog Fashion Police!

I wouldn’t whip out a 1.8 in front of my “Pro” friends. LOL.
Actually, your friends are snobs. If it does the job, who cares what it looks like.

i don’t like the barrel design, too corny. i prefer the rear barrel design on the 14-24mm and 24-70mm.

I’m sorry but why is this here, it isn’t even a rumour. The poster clearly states this is a photoshop image and not a good one. This is not a rumour or sneaky photo or even someone claiming it to be a real lens. You could at least state “this is someones photoshop work” but I’d prefer it simply to be a little link with a comment, not front page news.

So what if it’s not a rumour? No one’s forced you to read it. It’s something interesting just to keep things moving along while there’s nothing major happening. And it was stated by NR that the photo is a render.

      People complain too much.

I just bought one on E-Bay for $495.95 and they said it will ship tomorrow with next day delivery. I guess I am pretty lucky.

    NOT!

  15. Posted May 5, 2009 at 12:05 am | Permalink

It is truly not fair as that would be a lens I would have to purchase..

But rumors are as good as worthless till they actually happen…

Maybe I can attach this to my D400 with HD video while carrying my 600mm F2.8 that only costs 100 bucks :)

  16. Posted May 5, 2009 at 1:25 am | Permalink

Where is the VR??? Please Nikon can we have something along these lines?? I’d be even happier if it was a f/1.2 with a matching 50mm as well.

  17. Posted May 5, 2009 at 2:53 am | Permalink

I don’t like the design too. But i hav to purchase one. : )

To meet the competition, we (i.e. Nikon and us Nikon users) would need at least an AF-S 85mm/F1.15 IF-ED N.

    Cheers,

May be if the fake gets enough interest it might just twist Nikon’s arm into releasing it. Keep up the good work.

There will never be VR on an f/1.4 lens. It’s too big a shaft of light to bend without making the thing massive.
