New Nikon USA rebates starting on Monday, European cashback extended



Nikon will start a new instant rebates program in the US on Monday. Here is what to expect:

  • $500 off the Nikon 800mm f/6.3 VR S telephoto lens
  • $400 off the Nikon Z5 body & kits
  • $200 off Nikon Z8 body & kits
  • Up to $500 off on 19 different Z lenses

More Chinese lenses for Nikon Z-mount


The previously reported Yongnuo YN 11mm f/1.8S DA DSM WL APS-C ultra-wide angle autofocus lens is now officially announced in China for Sony E mount. The Nikon Z-mount version of the lens will be released later this year. The new lens has a unique feature: remote wireless focusing using the optional remote control operating at 2.4 GHz. Viltrox is rumored to announce the previously reported AF 40mm f/2.5 full-frame autofocus lens for Nikon Z in Spring 2024 (pictured above is the Sony version).


The new Laowa 10mm f/2.8 C&D Dreamer autofocus lens for Nikon Z-mount from Venus Optics will be officially announced soon.


Zyhongyi Optics (ZY Optics) is also rumored to be developing autofocus lenses, similar to several other Chinese lens manufacturers (Yongnuo, Meike, AstrHori, Sirui, 7artisans, TTartisan, Viltrox, Venus Optics).

Nikkor Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR firmware update version 1.01 released


Nikon released firmware update version 1.01 for the Nikkor Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR lens with a single fix:

“Fixed an issue that in rare circumstances would cause interruption of video recording with a message “Recording interrupted” displayed on the camera when the lens zoom ring is operated during recording.”

Nikon exhibits at CES 2024: no longer about photography


The 2024 CES show started today in Las Vegas. As I already reported, I did not expect any new product announcements from Nikon.

Nikon registered a new camera in Asia (N2214)


On January 8, 2024, Nikon registered a new camera in Asia under the code-named N2214 with 5.1GHz and Bluetooth support (registration ID: 2024AJ0346, see previous Nikon filings).
