New service advisory: Nikon reports “manufacturing issue” with some Z5II, Z6III, and ZR cameras

Nikon issued a new service advisory about “manufacturing issues” with some Z5II, Z6III, and ZR cameras. Here are the details:

Technical Service Advisory for users of the Nikon Z6III and Z5II mirrorless cameras and the Nikon ZR cinema camera

March 17, 2026

Thank you for choosing Nikon for your photographic needs.

We have learned that certain Z6III, Z5II, and ZR cameras were manufactured using parts that do not meet our quality standards, and  this may cause the cameras to become inoperable. We have identified the range of serial numbers for the affected Z6III, Z5II, and ZR camera units, and would like to inform customers of our response to this issue.

For those who have already purchased an affected Z6III, Z5II, or ZR camera, and would like to have their camera serviced to correct this issue, Nikon will provide repairs, including necessary parts replacement, free of charge even if the warranty period has expired. Nikon will also cover the cost of shipping affected Z6III, Z5II, or ZR cameras to and from our service centers.

Repair requests for affected products will be accepted beginning March 23, 2026.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause you.
