CIPA data for January 2026


CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their latest camera production data (orange: 2026, black: 2025, blue: 2024):

Narrative: January 2026

CIPA has not yet predicted numbers for 2026.

Compared to January 2025:

  • DSLRs were down 36% in units and 45% in shipped value.
  • Mirrorless units were up 16% in units and 12% in shipped value.
  • Compacts were up 36% in units and 34% in shipped value.
  • Lenses for smaller than 35mm sensors were up 10% in units, and 9% in shipped value, and lenses for 35mm and larger sensors were up 4% in units and down 5% in shipped value.
  • The lens-to-body sales ratio dropped to 1.59 compared to 1.62 a year ago.
