(All comparisons to YTD 2024)
Narrative: June 2025
CIPA has predicted 6.66m ILCs, 1.92m compacts and 10.6m lenses for calendar 2025, a modest increase over 2024. We’re currently projecting between 6.6m and 7.6m ILC units.
June shipments are substantially down from May, but generally ahead of May 2024, with a few exceptions.
For the first six months of 2025, DSLR’s are down 21% in units and 24% in shipped value, Mirrorless units are up 22% in units and 12% in shipped value. Compacts are up 20% in units and 40% in shipped value, lenses for smaller than 35mm sensors are up 11% in units and 13% in shipped value, and lenses for 35mm and larger sensors are down 2% in units and down 5% in shipped value. However, the lens to body sales ratio has dropped to 1.49.
