Trade deal reached: the new US tariff on goods imported from Japan is 15%


After the initial suggestion for a 25% tariff, the Trump administration reached a new deal today that includes a 15% tariff on all products coming from Japan.

The effective US tariff rate on Japanese imports before the announcement was approximately 2%, according to World Bank data.

Please note that tariffs are not calculated based on the final selling price in the US, but rather on the import invoice/declared value price.
