Hello! The new boxe for Nikkon is not gold anymore but silver, why? We always make in gold all the years. Now color is surprising 8402 now.I dont like it so much…
i have a box for a d100 that looks a lot like silver
Yes, some country we producs silver but not often. This is new type and dark lire iron color and white letter and bright silver too.
i just got my d90 from b&h today and the box is mostly black and some gold and same thing with sb-900… maybe new box design?
My guess is black body (the same) and gold logo (instead of white), just like those LE cars.
Maybe Nikon is doing this weird naming on purpose – they know that this info will leak.
My guess is it will be more than cosmetic changes. As to what it might be:
Live View/Video: No, I don’t think so, it will require a whole new sensor, and the only one logically available is the D300/D90 sensor, to high end for this
More resolution: Don’t think so, for same reasons as above
Faster FPS: Possibly, might get the 4.5 from the D90.
A focus moter: I WISH!!! But I doubt it.
Weather Sealing: Again, wishful thinking. I might believe it if the D90 had it, but it doesn’t
Pop up flash commander: Maybe
DOF preview: Again, I wish!
However, if this “Black Gold” is really D60x ( I doubt it, the other rumor said it said Black Gold on the store intentory) then anything possible.
Green fonts on black screen ??
That reminds me my first XT PC… long ago… Also some “Matrix” sequences
Good hacking Admin
- About the D60 “Gold ed.” I couldn’t understand that Nikon releases a model with only cosmetics changes.. I bet there will be at least some improvements.
- I also did read in DPReview that someone assisted to a Nikon event, and the representative told him that Nikon would release 3 new DSLRs this year (after that event that was after the D700 release).
If that is real, then the D90 is the 1st in the list.I wonder if this “new” D60 is cointing as the 2nd (I wish No, too keep place for a better announcement)Photokina (or maybe few days before ?? ) is going to be the most likely date for new releases…
- Any new about D800/D900 ?
If there are major updates – shouldn’t they bump the numbers? D60x or D60s?
It’s a Ritz Point of Sale stock screen. Ritz has got to have the oldest POS system in the business, they haven’t updated since they bought Wolf in 2000 and in fact Wolf had just updated their POS system to a modern one and rather than updating the Ritz warehousing system downgraded the Wolf stores to these machines. Looking something up in this system is a pain is the ass, especially with things that have minor name differences as their is a character limit on the description (sigma lenses come to mind).
<-former Wolf employee.
Yes, I suppose so.
Could it be that the store’s listing shows “Black Gold”, but the real name will be D60x or D60s ?I don’t remember a “Black Gold” edition or something like that on an already existing Nikon DSLR. Did it ever happen before?
If so, then I suppose it could happen again. If it didn’t, it could happen anyway (but I never thought Nikon would release only cosmetic changes without any (at least) little improvement :-S )
Oh, I forgot to mention this:
54-category for cameras, lenses are 25
153-Nikon’s brand code
Canon’s is either 116 or 166, the other one is Quantaray, I always got the two switched up.
One would think so, but I can’t imagine cosmetic only updates. Has that ever been done before?
I checked box carefully but no word of black gold at all.It says:(nikon logo) NIKKOR LENSAF-S MX Nikkor 65-180mm f/2.8G ED65-180 (BIG letters in bright silver)
That sounds a lot like a medium format lens. Both from the Focal Length (65mm is aprox 28 in 645 right?) and because of the MX designation.
What’s your source? If it’s box you’ve seen I want to see pictures.
Ditto! I noticed the MX designation too. Didn’t realize about the focal length though. Screenshots!
WHAT??? Please send me pictures – email is on the top left. Please!
sorry, I got lost…
what is the relation between the supposed D60 black gold, and the nikkor lens that Huang mentioned ?
(I do understand that the lens he tells is probably for a different format.. )
it all started with his first post where he wrote about the new colors Nikon was using…
Looks like Huang is starting a new (bogus) rumor, or leaking actual info to whet the appetite of those of us who frequent this site.Huang in either case showing us a peak (a photo of this box you speak of would be great) that MX is real and not the culmination of allot of wishful thinking would be a great way to start a raging fever in the Nikon community.
A Black D60 + Live view + 3 inch LCD = GOLD! I hope this is true. I’ll sell lots over the holidays for sure if it is.I doubt it would be just a cosmetic change, not Nikon’s style.Strange no designation like D60x or s though. This one will be interesting to watch.
black gold? is that anything like nikon japan’s non-black bodies? i’m going to guess it’s going to look pretty much exactly like this:
in japan, nikon sells gold bodies.
Good news for Ritz employees is that they’re working on a new POS system at corporate, seriously this time. Hopefully this time next year we’ll be running on boxes that aren’t well over ten years old.
Why would nikon want to be like canon, selling awful silver cameras to soccer moms?
Yeah, right. I’ll believe it when I see it. My former DM told me a YEAR ago right before I got fired that new POS’s were being “beta tested” in select stores. I’m still in touch with some of the managers at Ultra’s and other well off stores in Atlanta and they’re still getting the same story. After a while you learn to stop listening to corporates constant lying about what they’re going to do and just do your damned job.
< --got stuck in a mall store by a vindictive new manager who wanted all the sales for himself.
< --then got fired a year later because I showed up 5 minutes late one too many times while they were looking at me for promotion.
Noooooo, not bitter at all. -.-
Then again, if I hadn’t of gotten fired, I wouldn’t have gone freelance, gotten my 40D and gone back to school.
As a wise man once said “We shall see”
(Yes, I know, it’s from Charlie Wilson’s War)
to make money?
i’m going to guess and say it’s going to be something just like this. some soccer moms with poor taste are going to have a christmasy good time. anyone guessing on live view for a d60 are going to be severely disappointed.
Except I work at a store near corporate and personally know a couple people working on the project and have had others come in my store for design help.
I don’t think it gets much more real than that, though I’ve certainly learned to take what corporate says with a grain of salt.
I personally don’t get the need for live view – especially if you have a camera with a fixed LCD. I haven’t turned LV on once on my D90 which I’ve had for a week.I’d rather see Nikon squeeze a focus motor into a D60 sized body – top LCD would be nice, too.
Don’t you think it rather more likely that the black gold edition is the old D60 with a cosmetic change and an extra accessory or two such as a camera case, cable release or a different strap?
Nikon Germany now has a “BigPack” D60 on their website. It comes in black and yellow boxes and includes a camera bag and 2 x 2GB Sandisk Ultra SD cards.Could it really be just that?
… the camera is of course the same old D60, I forgot to mention.
I just posted this. That could be it. Thanks.
yes kurotsu-kun is right. lets see
Checked all boxes, no Black Gold, sorry, all the 6 new box is dark silver desing
How about the MX lens? Is it real? Got a picture of the box?
the box, it is not made(combined) here, but prnting sheet maybe I can show. Is that good?
sure – email me if you want privacy – email is on the top left
Is this the Nikon D60 “Black Gold”? (updated)
Update: No, that’s not it: the screenshot from Ritz said “body only”. This is rumor is still hanging unresolved.Nikon Germany has this banner on its front page:Thanks KK! …

It looks like Nikon are following Sony’s trend in making a gold body limited edition. If you look at the Sony Alpha range in Japan, you can get the A300 in a limited edition gold colour (though as a kit, not a body only). I think the promotion on this is running for three months (up to the end of the holiday season).
I’ve included a link if anyone wants to check it out.
i feel you. the company is such a joke.
i got canned when my manager approved too long a vacation. he called me in the middle of my vacation to inform me of that. i was in the middle of idaho, on a 5000 mile road trip with two other people.
it has its upside though.
So i DID WRITE ALL THE BOXES. I can make mabe a picture next wheek when I am on the night work schedule, not now. So you will belief me So here is all 6 six boxes:AF-S MX Nikkor 24 f4.0GAF-S MX Nikkor 45 f2.8GAF-S MX NIkkor 85 f2.8GAF-S MX Nikkor 135 f2.0G EDAF-S MX Nikkor 200 F2.8G EDAF-S MX Nikkor 65-180 f2.8G ED IF
Today’s recap (updated)
No announcement today. Last chance on Monday before Photokina. Besides the earlier hoax, those are the rumors for today:Photoextract (a photo sharing site) has Nikon D800 listed on its camera list.Source reported that Nikon D60 Black Gold could be a Ritz-only package and not a Nikon sponsored campaign.Someone is claiming that a Nikon D3x service handbook exists: “By the way, I’m sure I saw a service handbook for Nikon D3x at Nikon’s service facility today, next week we’ll see if all rumors are correct.” (Source)Cnet is speculating that Photokina will bring us a new D40 and D3x (keyword is speculating). The …
The cam looks like this http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=29481677&changemode=1Cite from there:1) the box: now has three “black gold edition” labels on it. They are not stickers, they are printed onto the actual box.
2) the neck strap: now has an additional “gold edition” logo on it 3&4) the two strap lugs: now plated with a very shiny golden coating 5) the shutter button: now coated with a soft gold color 6) the mode dial: now gas gold colored icons, not white 7) the D60 badge: now a soft colored gold (cite end)
