Time for another “what to expect” post:
→ Nikon Coolpix camera with a large sensor:
Q: Any new Coolpix A? Any plans to respond to Canon and Sony’s 1-inch sensor fixed-lens compact cameras?
A: Sony’s 1-inch CSC is definitely very successful. We will have a competing product in the future.
→ Nikon D5: the D5 is rumored to have 15 fps continuous shooting rate. The official announcement will most likely be at the next CES show in January 2016.
→ New Nikon 1 lenses – all but one of the 1 Nikkor prototype lenses shown back in 2011 were already announced (the picture shows a prototype of the not-yet-announced 1 Nikkor macro lens).
→ I expect also a new Nikon 1 V4 mirrorless camera to be announced by the end of 2015 or in early 2016.
→ Full frame Nikon mirrorless camera – there is already a patent for a 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 VR full frame mirrorless lens.
→ New camera system with lens and sensor in one unit – something similar to Sony’s lens camera modules (I think Nikon will release something that connects to your smartphone). See also this post: Nikon working on a new “secret” product.
→ New Nikkor telephoto lenses with fluorite (FL) element – this is more of a long term goal and it will take few years until they replace all mentioned lenses.
→ New Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 VR lens (see patent) – the price is rumored to be $500 more than the current version ($1,886.95). Other rumored lenses: 200mm f/4, 16mm f/2.8, fast DX zoom and Nikon 24mm f/1.8.
