Last month, Nikon announced that it is selling Mark Roberts Motion Control Limited (MRMC) to an investment company in the UK.
There are rumors floating around that MRMC is now in bankruptcy/administration. I spoke with several sources, but I cannot confirm that as of today. The company remains active as of today. It is possible that MRMC had some layoffs, which is normal after a change of ownership, but I could not find any reliable information about bankruptcy. This, of course, could change in the coming weeks and months.
MRMC employs over 100 people in the UK and is currently owned by Blandford Capital LLP, a UK-based investment firm based in Poole, Dorset.
Nikon acquired the UK robotics specialist MRMC in October 2016 and integrated MRMC’s award-winning precision camera motion-control systems with its own imaging technologies for high-end film, broadcast, live sports, and virtual production applications (previous coverage of MRMC can be found here and here):
