The North Korean Malligyong-1 spy satellite uses a Nikon camera:
Shin said he finds incredible North Korea’s claim that its Malligyong-1 spy satellite placed into orbit last month began to work on its mission early this month. “It takes at least five to six months (after the launch) even for high-tech U.S. and South Korean satellites to start a mission,” Shin said, confirming that the North’s satellite is making contact. South Korean Defense Minister Shin revealed that a military reconnaissance satellite launched by North Korea in May was equipped with a camera made by the Japanese manufacturer Nikon. (Yahoo)
Malligyong-1 (만리경-1) is North Korea’s first reconnaissance satellite, launched on November 21, 2023. It orbits at an altitude of about 500 kilometers and provides optical imaging surveillance capabilities of the U.S., Japan, and South Korea.
