Meike 85mm f/1.8 full-frame autofocus STM lens for Nikon Z-mount review by Bill Hall (see his previous reviews):
I wanted to tell you about a Chinese lens that I just got. If you haven’t tried any of the lenses being manufactured in China, you are missing out on some great lenses at bargain prices. I have several of them. All of them that I have had until now are manual focus, but now Meike is selling a full frame 85mm f/1.8 autofocus lens for Nikon Z mount. It’s selling on Amazon for $199.99. The lens is available also at B&H Photo.
The AF works very well. It’s fast and completely silent.
A common use for an 85mm prime is portraits, and this lens will do that for sure. I’m not a portrait photographer, so I didn’t have anyone handy for a portrait shot, but I do have a ceramic sculpture that will give you an idea of its performance at f/1.2. It did very well.
85mm also works well for close-ups & macros if you put a couple of extension rings on it. I put 29mm worth of rings on it, and it did very well with these close-ups of some turks caps.
It also makes a good general-purpose lens for all kinds of things including landscapes such as this picture of my yard . I wouldn’t classify it as a good wildlife lens, because it’s only a mild telephoto, but I was able to take a picture of this Cardinal in my yard. It’s a crop from the original 46-megapixel image to 2048 X 1365.
