Happy Holidays from [NR] (you should really try the new Nikon D850 time-lapse feature)

Happy Holidays to all readers! Best wishes from the [NR] team of one 🙂

On a side note, if you own the Nikon D850, you should really try the new time-lapse feature. Nikon made it very easy to create 4k time-lapses without any additional post-processing – so simple that even I could do it (see above).

I set a long shooting time for the timelapse and if you decide to leave earlier, you can still get the video that was recorded up until the time you turn off the camera. This is good if you do a long time-lapse overnight and your camera battery dies. I really like the exposure smoothing feature and the use of the electronic shutter. Here are the settings I used (I am obviously not an expert, this was just trial and error):

I used the Irix 15mm f/2.4 Blackstone lens ($675) for my time-lapse and I am planning to do some astrophotography with it next year. Since time-lapses can take several hours, I usually take a second camera to shoot and play around with while the time lapse is going on.

The sky was much better this time #nikon #d850 #timelapse #nofilter
