B&H is replacing a batch of Nikon EN-EL15b batteries

Today B&H send email to customers who have purchased the Nikon EN-EL15b battery. Apparently, there was a bad batch and B&H is replacing the purchased batteries. Something is definitely going on because a few weeks ago I posted about the Nikon EN-EL15b battery being discontinued.

The Nikon EN-EL15b battery is used in the Z6, Z7, D7100, D7200, 7500, D500, D810, and D850 cameras.

Update #1: it seems that Adorama is also replacing some Nikon EN-EL15b batteries.

Update #2: here is the original Nikon article on how to spot a fake Nikon battery.

Here is the full text of the email:

You recently placed an order for the following item – B&H # NIENEL15B.

It has come to our attention that we unfortunately received a subpar batch of Nikon EN-EL15b rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Since it is impossible for us to ascertain which of our customers received from the affected batch, we will be replacing all of these batteries sent to our customers regardless of which battery they might have received. With regard to the battery you have received, please discontinue use and take the battery to the nearest recycling program. As a resource to help you find a location near you, you can try looking at https://www.call2recycle.org/. The batteries should not be thrown in the general trash. B&H will be sending you a confirmed new optional battery free of charge within the next day or two. You will be receiving an e-mail copy of this no-charge order and a separate e-mail when it is shipped out to you. Please do not attempt to ship the battery back to us as it is potentially dangerous to do so.

On behalf of B&H we apologize for this and for any inconvenience this may cause you. We thank you for your patronage and look forward to you shopping with us again and giving us the opportunity to provide you with the best possible service.

Thank you, we appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

Your Customer Service team at B&H
