Press release:

Rejoicing in the 175 year anniversary of Joseph Petzval’s first lens, the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens is a continuation of the legacy that began in 1840.

Joseph Petzval invented his revolutionary Petzval optic in 1840 — a hugely popular portrait lens that changed the world of photography. Now, 175 years later and building on our success with the Lomography New Petzval 85mm Lens in 2013, the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens is here to join the growing Lomography Art Lens Family.

Bokeh Like a Boss: Using the newly developed Bokeh Control Ring on the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens, you are totally free to determine the strength of the swirly bokeh in your photos — this allows you to get the characteristic swirly bokeh effect in ways it has NEVER been possible before!

58mm Focal Length and Maximum f/1.9 Aperture to Enjoy: The New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens has a maximum aperture of f/1.9 and is a 58mm lens, which is a fantastic all-round focal length for street photography, landscapes, portraits and photos of your cat doing jumping jacks. We promise you will love shooting every scene with your New Petzval 58 in hand.

Premium Petzval Quality & Features: Featuring the finest quality Russian glass optics, the New Petzval 58 delivers crystal clear images with deeply strong color and character. But the magnificence of the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens extends far beyond the photos it takes. Manufactured by hand, the New Petzval 58 is available in a brass or black finish and has been specially developed to work with modern analogue and digital cameras. The lens is available in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts and is also compatible with multitudes of other cameras using adapter mounts. Additionally, the New Petzval 58 features a Waterhouse Aperture system (with plates ranging from f/1.9 to f/16) and a Gear Rack Focusing Knob for smooth and fast focusing.

The Ever-Expanding Lomography Art Lens Family: The 4th addition to the luxurious Lomography Art Lens Family, the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens follows the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1, New Russar+ and the New Petzval 85mm Art Lenses. The story began in 2013, when we reignited the passion for Petzval photography with the Lomography New Petzval 85mm Lens. Not long after came the New Russar+ Lens — the mother of all super wide-angle lenses was transported to modern day photography. Then in early 2015, the Lomo LC-A Minitar-1 Art Lens hit the streets and brought the classic Lomo style of shooting-from-the-hip to a whole new level. Now, with the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens, we’re continuing the tradition Joseph Petzval started with his revolutionary lens 175 years ago with brand new Petzval opportunities. Every new Lomography Art lens brings a whole new variety of creative possibilities to a photographer’s camera bag. No Art Lens is alike — each one offers the opportunity to get truly unique shots with a special optical character you won’t find with regular photographic lenses. With every Lomography Art Lens, we continue our unwavering commitment to producing new tools for shooting creative and experimental photos.

The New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens is exclusively available on Kickstarter. The first delivery of lenses is currently planned for December 2015.
