Only one new Nikon Z lens is expected to actually start shipping this year: Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8

This is a quick update on my previous post about the upcoming Nikkor Z lenses – so far only one lens is scheduled to start shipping this year and has an internally assigned announcement and production date – this is the Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8. The other Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.2 lens does not have an assigned date and it is not expected to start shipping this year – we may still see a development announcement. The same is the situation with the 200-600mm and 24-105mm Z lenses – in the best case scenario expect a development announcement but no actual shipping in 2021.

The new Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 lens will have a built-in 1.4x converter just like the NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR lens (with the TC the focal length will be 560mm). The lens will be announced together with the Z9 camera (I already reported that a few months ago).

Here is the latest Nikkor Z lens roadmap:

15% off Topaz Labs products with code RUMORS15
10% off ON1 products with code NIKONRUMORS
$10 off Skylum products with code NIKONRUMORS
10% off Capture One products with code NIKONRUMORS
30% off DxO products (no code needed, NIK Collections excluded)
$100 off Topaz Labs Image Quality Bundle
