Final 2018 CIPA numbers


In case you missed my post on PhotoRumors – the final CIPA 2018 numbers are in (see also the latest financial reports recap):

  • Compared with 2018, DSLR shipped units were down 13% to 6.62 million
  • Mirrorless units were up 1% to 4.14 million
  • Compacts were down 35% to 8.66 million.
  • Lenses for smaller than 35mm cameras were down 12% to 12.33 million
  • Lenses for 35mm cameras were up 8% to 5.69 million.

35mm*+DSLR+mirrorless units:

  • 2007: 8.26 million
  • 2008: 9.7 million (+17.4%)
  • 2009: 9.91 million (+2.2%)
  • 2010: 12.89 million (+30.1%)
  • 2011: 15.69 million (+21.7%)
  • 2012: 20.16 million (+28.5%)
  • 2013: 17.13 million (-15%)
  • 2014: 13.84 million (-19.2%)
  • 2015: 13.06 million (-5.6%)
  • 2016: 11.61 million (-11.1%)
  • 2017: 11.68 million (+0.6%)
  • 2018: 10.76 million (-7.9%)

*35mm film camera units are reported for 2007 only.  CIPA stopped reporting 35mm after that.
