The new AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G lenses (announced in early January, 2016) are compatible only with three Nikon DSLR cameras: D3300, D5300 and D5500. The lenses will not autofocus on older DX models like the D3100 or D7000. It is not clear for now if Nikon will issue firmware update for older cameras - just recently they released a firmware update to make the lenses compatible with the D3300. This probably also explains why the new AF-P lenses are not listed on Nikon USA website and are not yet available for pre-order. Both lenses are already available on Amazon UK.
