More Nikon D5 updates

→ Nikon published their technical solutions/shooting tips for D5 users.

→ The Nikon D5 manual and menu guide are also available on the Manual Viewer app (for iOS and Android).

→ Dpreview reports a “step backwards in terms of low ISO dynamic range” – the Nikon D5 has the lowest base ISO dynamic range of any current full frame Nikon DSLR cameras:

“Even at a modest 3 stop push, we see the D5 has already contributed a considerable amount of noise to its low ISO images compared to the 24MP D750. After a 5 stop push the gap widens, with the D750’s 5 stop file looking more like the 3 stop file from the D5. In fact, the D5’s performance closely resembles the performance seen from the Canon 6D, with just a bit more color noise showing in the 6D’s file.”

→ A reader ordered his D5 from Amazon on March 24th and it shipped today. An overpriced Nikon D5 (CF version) camera is currently available on Amazon by a third party reseller ($500 over MSRP).

→ New Nikon WR-R10 issue reported (via louisvillephotographerblog). You will have to send your WR-R10 wireless remote controller transceiver to Nikon for a firmware update in order for it to work properly with the new D5, D500 and the SB-5000.

→ Both the Irfanview and Rawrightaway NEF viewers now supports the D5.

→ Short film made by Photoblog.hk with the Nikon D5 to test the low light recording ability of the camera. The video was filmed entirely with the Nikon D5 using only one 50W incandescent bulb as the light source. All footage was straight out from Nikon D5 without any color correction, color grading, noise reduction or sharpening in post-production.Equipment used:
