Nikon AF vs. Fuji XF lenses size comparison

I don’t have a guest post for this weekend, but a reader sent me an interesting picture comparing the size of the older full frame Nikon AF (D) lenses with the new “modern” APS-C Fuji XF mirrorless lenses (click for larger view):

Obviously the new Nikon AF-S lenses are bigger but the old AF (D) models are still available and they are dirt cheap compared to the Fuji XF lenses.

Another reader sent me some interesting stats on Nikkor lenses:

• Out of the 48 DSLR lenses released from 1992 to 1999, 13 are still in the lineup
• Out of the 53 DSLR lenses released from 2000 to 2009, 28 are still in the lineup
• And all 38 DSLR lenses released since 2010 (including those not actually in retail yet) are still in the lineup
• And there are 8 remaining manual AI-S lenses, all of which were released between 1981 and 1984
