The rumored new Nikon iOS app will able to update firmware, add features, sync custom settings of Wi-Fi enabled cameras

Update: the new Nikon app may also offer transfer of images from camera to iPhone.

Back in June I reported that iOS engineers were working on a new project with Nikon USA at the main Apple campus in Cupertino. Here is an update on the rumored new iOS app:

The development was for an iOS based camera updating service. Wifi capable cameras can be updated with new firmware and/or features through the new app, eliminating the need for download and installation from computer. It was also mentioned that the app would primarily maintain and manage the status of one or several registered cameras, with options for bringing multiple cameras up to date as well as syncing custom settings between cameras.

I have no information when the app will be officially announced (if those rumors turn out to be true).
