Samyang is rumored to announce a new 100mm full frame macro lens (probably f/2.8). The company already published their first teaser on Facebook.

Just got a 105mm nikkor – under their Feb discount – after lot of belly aching…. : ) hopefully this one will not be better or 2:1

I wouldn’t worry about it. Macro lenses aren’t rocket science anymore. It’s fairly straightforward to manufacture a good quality macro. I’ve yet to see a macro lens made by anyone that sucks. You Nikkor is a fine lens, and has AF to boot.

Indeed, and it’s a crowded market: Sigma, Tamron (USM and screw drive) and Tokina all playing, as well as 3-4 different Nikkors. If you can afford the latest VR Nikkor more power to you … I plunked for a used screw-drive Tamron which does the job just fine as far as I’m concerned at roughly 1/3 the cost.

And you also got VR which I’m sure Samrokibower lenses don’t 🙂

This should be interesting. I think this lens may be more interesting as a portrait lens than a macro lens.

I sold my 105VR recently. had no use for it for weddings. used it mainly when the makeup artist was apply makeup and the ring shot. but I now do those shots with the 85 1.4D and for the ring shot, I use cheap $8 macro rings set I bought from ebay. it was a wonderful lens for just a few pics. I dont hold anything in my bag I dont use often enough. its heavy enough.
