    Hi all,

My D800 has an error message when I shoot above f8. I have tried several lenses and get the same error. I was recently on the beach for a ceremony and have since cleaned my camera. I don't think I have sand in there and can't figure out what to do. When I shoot closed I have to manually press the shutter release after each shot. In video mode, it'll work if I start at f2.8 with my 24-70mm and move towards f8. If I start at f8+ it gives me the same error. Any clue?

    Thanks.

Sounds like a manufacturing problem than anything else - you don't clearly state if the problem has always existed or just started up, but I would get it checked by Nikon to nip it in the bud.

    Thanks.
It's a new problem. I've had the camera for several months and it never once locked up on me before. To remedy the problem I have to turn the camera off or depend of my D7000. It's frustrating when I'm on location and shooting with off camera flashes. I've emailed Nikon and they sent me a link to the manual (which I have). There's nothing in there about this.

Yes nor is there anything on this in the troubleshooting guides like Magic Lantern. Sounds fairly serious and you should take it into the shop as soon as you can. Did you purchase it locally? Will it hurt your work? Hope your warrenty will cover it :)

Thank you. I'm going to try and use the store bought "insurance" before sending it out to Nikon.
