Hey Everyone,

I was doing some comparisons on Bodies and lenses. Originally I just got some quotes from local stores then Online. We have an incorporated company so I got quotes based on a commercial company purchase, and retail cost savings.
I thought the difference was Interesting, so these are my best quoted costs for a few items, all Canadian dollars. For US cost just take the dollar difference at .93.

I priced a whole bunch of things, these are just a couple of examples. So what do you guys in the US get for pricing?
Do you get these kind of Deals? What do you think about the pricing here to in the US?

Keith, from my known & previously purchased from Canadian local source (also online):
D700 - 2695.99 CDN
D300s- 1769.99 CDN

14-24 f/2.8 - 1899.99 CDN
24-70 f/2.8 - 1799.99 CDN

woah. . .i didn't know i could get company pricing on new purchases?! Can we do that in the US? I write my purchases off on my company, but didn't know I could buy "cheaper". . .

Shivas...we can here as we are an Incorporated Company. My wife and I own our own corporate company, therefore we can get those prices. I'm not sure if it works the same way in the USA. Maybe one of the others from the USA in here can answer that one for you.

It depends on what kind of "corporation" you have. (My understanding) "Corporate" discounts don't work as in I now have a small biznaz so let me buy all my personal use gear at a "corporate" rate and just say I use it for "work". It's not suppose to go that way.

Depending on the Biznaz the only way to get such a big discount is if you are a retailer and are reselling the gear. Otherwise I'm pretty sure it's "frowned" (tax wise)upon :^(
Non-profits,educational, and government agencies can also get such discounts. News agencies or very "large" companies can get discount wholesale pricing too. Depending on how much gear they purchase at once or if they have an agreement with a supplier to provide equipment for X amount of years.

We've got a lot of "sales" guys here on NRF so they might explain further. I'm speaking from my "past" experience with non-profit and state government purchasing.

Niko...yeah I'm not sure about the states, all I can speak for is where I live. As an Incorporated company, there is a difference here.

i still don't get it. . .I'm incorporated, LLC and all, but I have never seen where/how I can get discounts to THAT extent. . .literally, this year, I would've have saved at least a thousand dollars (purchased a D200, 17-55, 11-16, 35-70, and 35 1.8). . .okay, maybe $500, but STILL!!!
