I've got an older 12-24mm f/4 DX which is in need of a lube job. This lens actually got wet when I fell in a river about four years ago. Remarkably it is still going strong today with no fungus, etc. (dried it out on a car dashboard and then kept it under a desk lamp for a solid week to inhibit fungal growth). It just came out of warranty, but when I called Nikon they weren't able to give me even a ballpark quote on how much a simple lube and clean job would be. The autofocus squeaks a bit, which is audible on my new D600 (DX is irrelevant when you only have 1080 pixels...)

Anyone had to send a lens in for cleaning lately? I'm not real wild about shipping it in only to learn it'll be $300 or whatever just to get rid of an annoying squeak. The little gold band on the end also fell off; I'd like them to put one back on.

    Thanks a lot,
    Zach
