Saw this mentioned on page 17 of the Dec 2009 Pop Photo mag. What is "offset AF sensor pairs"? Pop photo says it will improve autofocus. How? Will it improve sensitivity? Will it extend the focus points further towards the edges of the frame? I would be delighted with either. They didn't say which manuf is pursuing this technology.

Wow what's more important on that same page (to me anyway) is that they are "predicting" a $1500USD full frame DSLR to show up 2010!

Oh sorry jimjim I forgot to answer your question. I think they are referring to AF point grouping like on the canon7D's.

LOL I'd love to see an FX sensor in a D3000-type-camera. That would be hilarious!

Why would that be funny? I think whoever announces a FF camera for $1500 is a game changer.

Why? 'Cause then my whole "Faster Smarter Stronger" thing would be messed up cause I'd be carrying the D7000 or whatever instead of my D300! :^)

They also review the new full frame Sony a850 and they really liked it. Autofocus is "faster" than a D700 and 5Dmk2 (ranked in that order). Better resolving power against the D700 and 5Dmk2.

Only dislikes were no HD video, or live view, and noise at high ISO.

LOL, if I got a D7000 I would be carrying something "Slower Dumber Weaker" :^)

Well, not compared to Canons anyway.

But note that "Faster Smarter Stronger" mentions nothing about image quality. By following these variables that could mean that the D200 is better than the D90!
