Absolutely love that review, I want to be a Darwin Fan, you know Niko this is real review not the crap you get on a DpReview, Darwin did real shooting. I bet you any money I could take the 7D to a BMX race and have the D300 of mine just kill the 7D in real shooting performance, like how my D300 gets the action shots that I get
This was from the Canon 50D review
We're by no means saying the 50Ds image quality is bad but it's simply not significantly better than the ten megapixel 40D. In some areas such as dynamic range and high ISO performance it's actually worse and that simply makes you wonder if the EOS 50D could have been an (even) better camera if its sensor had a slightly more moderate resolution.
I think this in the problem with the 7D incl DR issues etc. I hope that the Nikon D300s replacement is very careful about how far they push up the MP
Pete
It took Nikon a long time to get to 12megapixels so I don't think you have to worry about them pushing MP too far, lol.

You know Canon is a bit of a hypocrite, on one hand they downsize MP on their new G11 and then on the other hand they just go nuts on this new 7D, but it will sell, they could make a 30MP APS-C 8D and it would sell with whatever image quality problems it might have
Pete
BTW Do you think it would be safe to move this over to the Canon Forum, just for kicks
It's already there :^) Take a wild guess how well it was received!
Great find, Niko. It's funny how so many comment questioning the things they did. It's a good thing they were air tight in their methods. And Pete's right--it's a lot easier to trust someone's review who doesn't have an interest in how well the camera sells.
Actually my 2000th post party is over here:

I thought these comments were funny:
"I would NEVER believe someone who shoots all the time at f8 or f16.
f1.8 is the way to go!
Reply
yes, finally someone who understands how to do photography. Thank you."
Canuts can be so funny when their mad :^)

Could you link me to that Canon Forum thread, I always shoot at the biggest aperture is that not the best setting, just kidding

seriously the 7D is the most appealing of their bodies in a long time. . .however, like the reviewer said, can't beat Nikon for the simple fact the pictures are. . .more nikon-like :-)
I wonder if lens differences caused the substantial differences?
regardless, doubt anyone would notice these differences unless they are pixel peepers!
Strange that the review says the G11 has better image quality then the 7D! WTF?! Really?
LOL, that's Canon for you!
I read a bit of the posts on the Canon forum: Wow are they ever defending it
Alright so the F stop at F 8 - 11 might be to high for this more packed sensor, OK so the Canon would certainly suck at Macro shooting, I just can not help at loving my D300 more and more all the time
Pete
I was surprised and very sorry it fared badly against other Canon models. I hope it was a bad sample, since I planned to buy one for my Sister (she's got Canon glass she loves). A good 7D would also put price and market pressure on Nikon to bring out new models at competitive prices. I want Canon to make good cameras (and Leica and...).

But I only found it because you told us about it, then posted the link because Pete asked for it. Do you regularly check CR?
And I hear you about the D300, Pete. It looks like all you have to do to rile up a canon user is mention 12MP. Is it like the photography equivalent of sports fans shouting 'scoreboard'?
CanoDoby? cano be true?
Help me NikocanoDoby your my only hope ;^)
I'd be willing to bet that they'd defend with 7D with every trick in the book. It is Canon's flagship APS-C camera, if I recall correctly.
Over on DpReview they had a heated thread on the Darwin review: You know with Red and green colors, General speaking most defended the camera, and you could argue that Darwin could have shot at the F 5 - 6 area, but if this new 7D has problems at F8 - 11 area then you are going to have a hard time with a few things incl Macro, tele-converters etc. I still hope that Nikon really looks over this camera and decides how far our D300s replacement should go in this MP race, yes I am very pleased to have jumped over to Nikon
