If history is any guide, the D600 should be available for orders within the next hour, so I thought I'd start a thread for people to post about shipping times, etc. (Amazon now says, "Introducing the New Nikon D600 Digital SLR - Check out Nikon's newly released full-frame 24.3 MP digital SLR. I'm pretty much waiting for Amazon to put a pre-order page up so I can snag one then go to bed.
Any word on availability or pricing of the MB-D14 grip? I am wondering how much the whole shebang would be.

In the UK Warehouse Express or WEX Photographic have them on Pre-order at £1955, quite a bit more than I expected and WEX are usually pretty fair when it comes to pricing in the UK.

@Huarache, £1955 does appear to be the UK preorder price which is laughable! why the hell would anyone buy this when you can get a d800 for £200 more! the d600 is on preorder at amazon us for just over $2000 which is around £1300 why the hell are we being made to pay a £700 premium. poor form on nikons part I have to say!

Both of you mirror my thoughts exactly. I could take my wife on a long weekend to NYC and pick one up there for the difference in price....... Hey now there's an idea, I wonder if she'd go for it? :-) Same thing happened with the D4 if you remember, nearly the same price in £ as in $. At £1300-£1400 I don't think they'd be able to keep them on the shelves, and their reward would be a substantial increase in FX glass sales. A win win I would have thought?
I know the exchange rate favours under £1500 but I'd be surprised to see hit below that, any time shortly.

I think they are going to really struggle to sell these in the UK at that price, I have been patiently waiting for this camera because I expected it to be around the £1500-£1600 mark but i'm going to buy a d800 instead its more than I wanted to spend when i still have to buy FX lenses but id rather that than pay £2k for a d7000 with an FX sensor stuffed in it!
haha wow it has begun! This will sell like crazy I hope Nikon is aware of the demand for this item because an impossible amount of units will be ordered in the next 24 hours.

WEX themselves sell the D800 for £2279, with £180 cashback on Nikkor lenses, so that effectively means a UK price difference between D800 and D600 from the same retailer of £144. Are these cameras really THAT close?
I am very, very eager to learn how this camera stacks up against the D700 with everything other than MP, video features(which I don't need) and IQ, which, let's face it, is still great on the D700.

I want this camera...even cheaper would have been better but still, it's the first FX camera even remotely in my price range. Now I just have to save for a year or two before I can actually afford it, hopefully that means the price will have time to go down a bit :p Hope my little D3000 will survive that long...

I never understood the thin price difference between corresponding D3x00 and D5x00. I tried to explain that away by saying $200 (or whatever) is 40% of the price of the cheaper body. Fine.
In the UK market, I dunderstand the D600/800 differential even less. The spread in North America makes sense. How any D600s at all will sell in the UK is beyond me. People shopping for these bodies aren't naive. If the real difference is 144 quid, people will buy the D800 either on its own merits or even with an eye to resale/value retention.

Amazon wouldn't let me increase my credit yet. I'll probably shoot the 7000 and 600 until they die though so who knows what will be out by then!
Given the current UK pricing stupidity I feel like most of the market is going to be US buyers. Once I have it in my hands I'll post a few sample shots in PAD or whatnot if nobody else that visits regularly has pre-ordered one.
Tallyn's Professional Photographic Supply in Peoria, IL is taking preorders on the D600 starting today (US only). They're list won't be nearly as long as Amazon or B&H so your odds of being at the front are much better, and they are a Nikon Authorized Dealer so you can order confidently. Added bonus, they won't charge your CC out until they have the body to ship to you. Give them a try: <Link removed>
$2,600 at B&H, w/24-85 3.5/4.5 lens, and that's with a $100 rebate.
In the UK market, don't forget that the D800 was selling for £2,700 while the availability was limited. Retail prices only recently, and quite quickly dropped to the £2,000, £2,100 range. That's what ? About 6 months after launch ?
There's no way that the D600 will stay anywhere near £2,000 and sell in volume. I expect the price to drop quite quickly as supply and demand balance out.
