I know this was posted before and most did not think that DpReview should review MF cameras, but it looks like they are going to test the Leica S2

Maybe they are only doing this one because of its DSLR look, I am sure it can take amassing pictures, but I am not sure why someone would want to spend that kind of money.

Do you think that Nikon or Canon would ever make a similar camera, if they did that would certainly spell the end of Leica

From a review I read, the S2 is smaller than the Nikon D3 series. So, while the sensor size is large, the camera isn't and it handles like a DSLR, rather than an MF. Just need $50K for body and lenses. (btw, Moose Peterson's gear is not cheap either, I'd estimate $45.5K for his Nikon cameras and lenses)

So do you think will compare it to DSLRs like the D3X and 1Ds MKIII or will they test other MF cameras

As much as I know camera equipment can be important, I think $50,000 in Nikon equipment will get you much farther than $50,000 in Leica equipment.

Then again, I don't shoot to make money, so I would have no freaking idea.
