I will start by wanting an update to the 35mm F2.0 D

I would like to have something substantially less expensive than $8000 that covers the range beyond 300mm, without compromising too much. Obviously, the 400mm f/2.8 is a beautiful piece of optical and structural achievement, but it is heavy and expensive. My ideal lens would be 400mm f/4 or f/4.5, with VRII. Save a kg or two, and save a few grand, without going optically soft.
Alternatively, I could warm up to a 200-500mm f/5.6 VRII, if that can be done for less than 1/2 of the price of the 400mm f/2.8 (in Nikkor quality, of course).
I would love to see a 50mm prime lens 1.4 with VRII!!!
How about an FX 50-150 2.8 VR? I'd pay $2000 for that.
Or a 70-200 f/4 VR for around $1000?
Sure, I would love a wide angle prime. Preferably FX, but I'll take a DX wide angle prime if it was priced within the 35mm 1.8 DX's range.
I'm with Recentconvert. I want long telephotos that don't break both the back and the bank.
I'd like the rumored 100-500/4-5.6 AFS VRII, etc, etc. (more specifically)
300/4 AF-S VRII - update
400/4 AF-S VRII - new
500/5.6 AF-S VRII - new
Would 5.6 be too slow? You'd probably have to bump your ISO, no?
But it definitely would be less expensive.
Does birding need a large aperture?
Just a bit curious about the F5.6 500mm that Adamz wanted.
I'd like to see an f2.8 DX prime lens to complement the 17-55mm f/2.8. Maybe a 55-200mm f2.8 VRII if that is possible.
updated primes are def needed:
20 2.8
35 2.0
for FX coverage. . .
I also agree with pabnj, IF Nikon is truly committed to DX, a 55-200 2.8. . .
the 24 2.8 isn't that bad, and if they come out with a 24 1.4, gives people options
The 28 2.8 wasn't really that exciting anyhow. . .
I'm happy with what I have now for DX: 10-24, 16-85,70-200, and the TC 1,4.
I really cannot see what I could buy to improve that set, at least for what I do :o)
… but I could do with a good Point & Shoot as I described before :oD
500/5.6 wouldn't be too slow on one hand, and it could be affordable on the other - app. $3000-$4000
I'd would like to see a 600m F5.6 AFs VRII. At one time Nikon made a manual focus 600 F5.6. It was a great lens for its time. Also would like to see the 200mm micro replaced with Afs and VRII.
I would like some primes overhaul, something in range from 20 to 35 and VR 85, better and faster.
New 200 Micro with AF-S and VR added for shooting from hand.
Affordable VR zoom above 200 would be nice and it does not have to be very fast.
Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D - update
something like 18-200 for FX (well maybe Im dreaming 24-1** will do) - new
need that one lens that can do it all maybe not as good but can be used as a travel lens....for FX
I don't trust Sigma
I would actually love to see my 24-70 2.8 get some VRII...that would make it a lens for the ages.
I would like to see a 20mm F/1.8 or F/2. I hear mixed things about the Sigma 20mm F/1.8 and, I would really like to give one of those lenses a go. Also an updated 80-400mm VR!

Could use autofocus I guess.

I love my Sigma 50 1.4. Tough I must admit it's too heavy for my likening. It's heavier and bigger than Nikon 85mm 1.4, go figure it's a lot of glass.
My problem poster is that I live in San Diego. This city sucks when it comes to camera stores (among other things). The two places I know of don't normally carry more than one super tele in stock at any one time. Frequently they have none and tell you that they can order you one. We all know that Sigmas often have to go through several samples before you get one that's any good. For that reason I order online and for that reason I cannot trust Sigma.

What can I say? I like to live on the edge. I ordered my Sigma online too. I suppose you just have to take a leap of faith. You can always send it to Sigma center to have the back/front focus fixed. Luckily mine is perfect.
