Oh you mean like a digital OM10 :-) just use film on OM 10 and scan it you will have even better than D3x quality. ;-)
I doubt we will see something of the D60 size with an FX sensor for at least three more years, even though it would be technically possible at the moment.
First, the price point of a camera like this would be prohibitively expensive, due to the pricing of the FX sensors, which would take out 80% of the target market of this camera (those that are new to the DSLR and also those that are on a budget). Bare minimum for a stripped down FX system at the moment would be somewhere in the region of 1500€, before you start putting things like HD trick kit in there.
Second, until the FX system is mature, to a level of the DX system, in regards to lenses, camera hardware and cost per unit, then again it won't happen.
The only time, I see this happening, is due to the megapixel myth, which a lot of the consumer market, to whom this sort of camera is aimed at, start wanting more than what the DX can offer. Until the day that the marketing men cannot shift higher numbers of pixels (which will happen, we will hit pixel saturation, just like the computer processor market has hit transistor per chip saturation), then the manufacturers will have to offer something like this, just to stay in the game.
At the moment, something like this would be very niche, and that niche is already covered (bar the swivel screen and full HD) in the D3, and the D700. Wait until you see the what the next generation of Pro Nikons have to offer, and give that three or four years before it becomes a marketable reality at this side of the line.
it will never happen for the simple reason that the glass is too expensive for the market segment. this is the same reason canon will never do it either. even if you could make a sensor for dirt cheap, you still have to buy optics that will be way more expensive and heavier. soccer mom won't go for that to take pics of jonny because soccer mom doesn't know what FX even means.
