Anyway, 110 film happens to be 13 by 17mm and that is app what the rumored new Nikon micro system is going to have for a sensor size, right

    Pete

BTW I have been close to buying a used Pentax 110 system, but did newer shot anything in 110 format

I use to have one of those 110 film cameras. I loved those little crazy film cartridges. Sniff sniff, those were the good 'ol days. I need a drink know.

35mm film is all I need, since I don't own any of those 110 film cameras. So is it smaller or larger...? I don't know about the area of 35mm film.

But hey, I like film in general, so whatever floats your boat!

    110 is tiny. 35mm is 35mmx24mm (864mm^2) 110film is 17mmx13mm (221mm^2) slightly over 1/4 the size. I had a 110 camera once, had a lot of fun with it.

I really do miss 110mm film. Soon our kids will be saying,

"Oh yeah I remember that crazy 35mm film"
    "Film? What's film?"

There is a local guy who claims to have bought out the last of those Pentax 110 SLR kits. He's been selling them for a few years including the metal case, lenses, etc. I forget the price, but i think it was $150.00 for a new sealed one.

These were definitely the smallest SLR's I know of.

They were like little toy cameras and the film was just about fool proof! The APS film of it's time.

My other reason for this thread was that 110 is app the same size as the new rumored Nikon sensor, and I was thinking how small you could make a camera system with that size sensor if you compare to the size of the Pentax 110 system

Oh I see, well could be "110" since it's 16mm, but I'm really hoping for an APS-C sensor sized camera.

Nikon had a small format film DSLR, it was the Nikon Pronea. The film was APS sensor sized, and it had an actual F mount too. It died though when digital became cheap, though it didn't die as quickly as 35mm film, since it was a more established format.

I'm linking to Ken Rockwell because he seems to have pretty good info on the Pronea.

    And the lenses.

Don't mount Pronea lenses on your regular DSLRs, they won't fit apparently. But your DSLR lenses will work on the Pronea.

The Pronea was small but nothing in comparison to the Pentax 110

Now I don't know how small that rumored Nikon 2.5 Factor system will be, but primes could be this small, the body might have to be bigger to fit in the electronics, but could you imagine such a body with a lens adapter to fit on a larger Nikon zoom lens

Wow, that Pentax is pretty damn small.

I wasn't trying to best the Pentax in size with the Pronea, I was telling NikoDoby that such a camera does exist.
