    Hi

Can someone please point me the right direction on this one. I've got a real bug bear when it comes to understanding the focusing systems of the D800 and was hoping people could help me.

I've just bought the D800 & I'm am getting into wedding photography.

Now what is the generally the best and most consistent mode for weddings please? Is it AF-S or AF-C?

    Thanks

With weddings AF C is probably best most of the time

but there will be times when you might prefer AF C

    with the greatest possible respect
Before doing weddings, you really need to fully understand, what the focusing and all the other controls do.

Before doing weddings The technical side has got to become second nature to you

    BTW RTFM

Ouch...and +1 to seven. Read the manual. You have a $3000 professional level camera and you aren't sure what focus mode you should use? I personally shoot AF-A and let the camera help me out...it usually does a good job and to me calms down the AF-C. AF-C is annoying to me sometimes and can actually be worse in my opinion as it tries to refocus when it isn't needed. On the other hand you can miss a focus just the same with AF-S and you haven't refocused it yourself. I hope you aren't shooting my wedding...just saying :)

Oh yeah and I shoot a D5000 and I know which focus mode does what and have tried them all. So...read up and test them out (just not during the wedding).
