A reader suggested that we should start organizing a real meetings of NR readers in the major metro areas - just like the Strobist fan base.
What do you guys think?
Should we start organizing real meetings of forum members/blog readers?

How would that work? Are you going all "Scott Kelby Books/Workshops/NAPP Tour" on us admin :^)
I think everyone would be disappointed meeting me in person, lol.
Seriously though how would it work?

Let's say we will meet at a certain location for beers, shooting, whatever. If enough people sign up, we go for it.
This is how the strobists do it:http://www.flickr.com/groups/beneluxstrobists/discuss/72157622365199366/
and then they share their pictures online (or drunken stories)

Sounds like fun but all of us are from so many places. I think we have a good amount of members from Texas than from anywhere else, for starters. But it's a big state and I don't think everyone could make a "beer/photo run".

I think at a later date, after NR grows a bit, maybe like when NR turns 2 or 3 years old.
Maybe meeting could be arranged at different locations, but done on the same day/weekend

Only if it's for training for the job I'm trying to get and that's only 10 days.

I am not sure where Niko is, but Austin is fun. I almost moved there few years ago.

Besides, eventually Cali will fall into the ocean and then I'll have the nice view of the Pacific :^)
Next time I go to Sea World San Antonio I'll be sure to ask if anyone's heard of you Gentoo. The guy not the penguin.

In Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm are my preferred locations for such a meeting :)

You all see? This is in part why I have no affection for Texas.

I'm in Utah, quadrapixel (SLC, to be precise). Actually, I think Utah has some awesome areas for landscape photography (Zions, Bryce canyon, Arches, and Canyonlands).
That said, I agree that although it's a good idea I think NR will have to get a bit bigger before it will make sense.Posted 3 years ago # -
OK, we will wait. We have a huge blog audience, but the forum is still lacking. I will put a forum banner on the blog - hopefully this will attract more people.

How big is the blog readership, Peter? Do you have any statistics on it?

WOW where would I even start to describe places that I have been to there: Properly the highlights would be being waste deep in water in the middle of the narrows in Zion Park. Laying on my stomach looking down a 1000 foot drop in Zion Park. Anything around Moab incl the arches and driving from Moab to the Monument Valley(incl stopping were Forrest Gump stopped running in the movie). Walking into some of the water shaped canyons found in parts of Utah
Anyway when my son is a few years older I will go with my son down to Utah again, and if any of you ever have a chance to see Utah, do it, you will not regret it

Guys, I know that most of You are from US, but maybe You want to try something else. A two weeks trip to India, for instance, would cost no more than $1500 including flight.
Also, You always are very welcome to Poland, there's plenty of great places to take pictures, not to mention the fact we have the best beer in the world, not to mention chicks :)Posted 3 years ago # -
as for meeting in US, I need around 2 months earlier to know the timing, also if You guys will go for US, than I prefer East Coast - NYC/Boston/even Chicago - West coast is to pricy (plane tickets), unless some of You will give me a pice of his/her floor to put my sleeping bag on :)

Better yet what if we found a way to combine that trip with the "Nikon Mentor" training. I would love to be on a Nikon Mentor trip and if that was with others from NR it could be fun

I don't know adamz, I've seen a lot of beautiful "chicks" on my side of the planet. In fact some of them read this forum ;^)

"I'm talking about you woman!....Aahh, that hurt!"Niko: you have to train your better half not break camera gear, use kitchen gear, garden tools, all are easier to replace in case you thick skull should break them
Pete
BTW only single NR's are allowed to taste Polish Chicks, you Niko will have to do with Polish kielbasa
