what do you think the odds of Nikon offering a rebate on the 18-200mmm lens are? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a D90+ lens and I'm trying to decide if I should get the 18-105mm kit lens or wait to see if they offer a rebate like they have on a few of their other lens combos.
odds of an 18-200mm rebate?

I would say plausible, as there was a nice offer on 18-200 last year - the deal was around $2k for d300+this lens

I say wait to see what happens in the next few weeks.

Well , judging by the IQ of my copy (first version)....I think that Nikon should give me a rebate and exchange it for the new version!

If I had to guess, I'd say its a good candidate. The new version is essentially the same as the old version, so Nikon should have the manufacturing process down pretty solid. It's also the right price-range for the sort of people I expect nikon to direct the rebates toward: (High end consumer).

Willis......just wondering....why can't a (High end consumer) whatever that means.. expect a decent lens?

$$$ that's why :^(
Everything's a balance I'm afraid.Posted 3 years ago # -
Yeah....who could possibly think that anyone in their right mind would expect Nikon to build a lens that was any where near worth a damn unless you could throw down several grand on it ;)....Hea....those " Low end consumers" couldn't take a decent photo if their lives depended on it!!
