I just noticed rebates at Adorama on Canon products including a $500 rebate on their 200/2. Some countries are seeing price decrease (Australia) based on currency. Are we about to see a real decline in prices?

The weak dollar is going to make that very unlikely. A quick check shows the rate currently at 90 yen\dollar. Back in December\January I think it got as low as 86 yen\dollar, but its well below the 110-120 rate where it spent most of the last several years.

yeah I doubt it too. The canon guys are complaining that their rebates aren't much to brag about. I think the best one is $200 dollars off when you buy a kit lens with another $300 dollar lens.
They also have an owner loyalty coupon for $50 bucks off any DSLR purchase and $20 off any point & shoot, wow.

The email I received from Adorama showed $500 on their 200/2 or about 10%. The others were $200 (body and kit lens) or less. Their 70-200/2.8 L - priced at about $1800 got $150. Not necessarily huge amounts, but savings are savings. The D300s is now down to $1,600, so some Nikon prices are falling also.
