Indeed. The colors are incredible and so is the reflection. The red eye is a bit spooky, but I love it!

nice picture gentoo - what is it, mandarin duck? the thing that distracts in Your picture is the black spot in the upper right corner, this picture would be much better w/o this

regulator - nice picture, could be more saturated on the bottom and less on the blue part, but the composition really rocks, I also like the uneven horizon, give a nice touch to Your picture

jonny - nice boy and nice picture, the eyes are just popping out, their are so hypnotizing

It's a Wood Duck. Mandarin is an Asian species. There are a few feral ones around. Wood Duck is it's North American Relative. Here's a Mandarin:

Hold on, Adam. I thought shooting Fujifilm -was- a saturation tweak.
    Nice shot.
(PS I'm only kidding about the saturation—I'm a huge fan of velvia myself)

Yeah the November thread really took off. 15 pages is a lot for one moth in PAD.

pete - yup, it looks pretty much the same nowadays, I mean the guys (soldiers) are still 24h on guard, the funny thing is that they need to stand still all the time, but once I've been there around 2am, and till the time they haven't seen that anyone is in the surrounding they were sitting, once they spot us they were rushing to come back on their positions :)

Aprille, I like the lighting on that shot. I think I'd prefer a tighter crop to see the light on your face better (waist up?). I saw the switchfoot reference on your photostream—that song is one of my favorites.

Jonny nice shot. Like the motion effect and the lighting. You timing was also good as the composition is nice as well.

I'll put a fair shot of mine up this time. Only because I'm proud this one came out as well as it did:

This is a Killdeer. You often don't see them until you frighten them away.

I think I've seen and heard a killdeer before. Don't they have a fairly distinctive high-pitched whistle (is that the word I want)? Yes, laugh at how I know almost nothing about birds.

My picture is pretty severely cropped, Gentoo. I wasn't thinking much about composition when I took it, but thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt.

Well your picture is good all the same. You cropped it well and composed it well during the crop.

Yes, Killdeer have high, rather annoying voices. If you live anywhere in the US, you've likely heard them. Starlings also like to imitate them. They get their name from one of these calls which sounds like "kill-deah kill-deah kill-deah"

Nice light and atmosphere, you should have pointed your camera just a bit lower.
@gentoo - Where on Earth do you find so many birds species? One could make an atlas just from your shots!

LOL mb. Thanks, I've been a birder my whole life, they're just all around wherever I go. I'm sure where ever you are in the world there are also lots of cool species, many of which I've yet to see in the wild.

I was going through some of my old honeymoon photos and figured I may as well toss them in. Right now ouside my house, there is nothing but naked trees and grey skies...hardly anything to get excited over.

@ Adamz, as I commented on flickr, I really like the lighting and symmetry of that memorial.
@ PBrigido, your 2nd shot is great. Sweet colour and silhouettes.
