    Pretty close,

It was in a deer park, and they are not that tame, so getting pretty close was a challenge.
I was down wind and as soon as they appeared I froze, they didn't hang around long though.

Nice shots guys. I keep meaning to do a series on all the urban dear around Austin. It's kind of insane... you can drive right up to them and they don't seem to be bothered at all by it.

That second one is tragic, Pete. Is that ice in the river already or something else?

I'm liking the deer theme. Phil and Gentoo, is that the same deer?

Niko, this one is of one of my sons.

jonnyapple, a Cliff Springer is actually not a deer, it's an antelope. I think phils is also a Cliff Springer.

I don't pretend to know anything about deer or antelope. I'll bet you hunt them too.

I agree...that is a great portrait of your son. He seems to have your eyes!

Actually I have to thank Gentoo for reminding me of what the name of that creature was. Cliff Springer just didn't pop into my mind, but he is right on the money!

Here is mine for the day.

Thanks Adam! That's what I found most interesting also. I have never seen clouds have a texture like that before. It was truly unique. :)

    Thanks, everyone. We love him.

Phil, ditto Adamz's comment about the clouds. Beautiful shot. I've never put borders on my photos, but looking at your last two makes me think it's a good idea to try it sometimes. It adds something to both of these images.

My wife wouldn't survive long there, Pete. Even northern Utah is too cold for her. Nice composition on the leaf picture, BTW.

I was looking at some long exposure photography on Gizmodo, and I was truly impressed. It is definately worth a look.
