First one was some nameless thing that shot 640x480 and could take about 10 shots before the 4 batteries where dead. Stored the pictures on internal memory only and could hold about 16 images at a time.
First real digital camera was a Nikon Coolpix 2500. Just bought a new battery for it and I still carry it around as a "just in case" camera.
First DSLR was a Nikon D70s, recently upgraded to the D700.
First: Nikon D70s....
Second: Nikon Coolpix 5700 bought in a charity shop. working perfectly, with the hour it went wrong it was re-sensored by Nikon UK for no charge and was returned cleaned and serviced as well I still have this. Great little camera!
Third: Nikon D300..I still have this as well!
Reason for being Nikon loyal! having a great collection of Nikon lenses from film days.

Canon a60 powershot. Man that thing took pretty good pictures. I lost it in cancun on spring break 2 years ago. I still have a 16mb cf card for it! I had gotten an oly e500. 2 lens kit for 230 at officemax (bought all they had to sell on eBay). I ended up selling them for a nice profit and bought a 10.5 fisheye for my fiancée d40x and we have shared that since. How do zuikos

OMG time to confess! My first and only digital camera is a Kodak EasyShare CD33 and I'm holding out for a Nikon EVIL, that is if it ever comes... Just Sayin!
Nikon D70s, boys and girls. It was a swell camera. Glad I had it. Though it was just a waste of money anyway.

Because, I got it when I was 14 years old. I really wanted it, but I quickly learned that I was intimidated by it. So for next 1.5 years it was used for family pics (birthday parties, vacation trips etc) rather than what it was capable of. Moreover I achieved better results with my P&S camera, due to having simpler controls, and being super portable. My landscape/cityscape photography was by far better than that coming out of my D70s.
So in the end, I REALLY started to use it in the last 2 years of it being in my hands. Then I sold it for D200.
When I got it, I was uneducated about DLRs,lenses and anything photography related. I shouldn't have bought a DSLR at that time. I would have made better choices after more learning.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed D70s, but I had buyer's remorese for some time after I got it.

But at least you put it through its paces instead of leaving it in auto the whole time.
I sort of have reverse buyer's remorse. I chose a D40 over a D80 and now I'm annoyed that I don't have an AF screw. I'd be able to get more lenses for cheap that way.
But hey, I'm happy with the gear I have now.
My first Dslr was a D70 then a D80, D200,D2x,D300 and finaly a D3. In short moments i also owned D50,D40,D60 and D5000. Pluss a bunch of coolpix ;-)
My first digital was/is a Kodak of some sort or other (can't remember the model number). The reason I've been looking at DSLR's is because I've taken the P&S about as far as I can take it (just the camera, mind you; my photography, much less so). Looking at Nikon... well, 'cause it's Nikon. :) And because the Nikons I've used have been comfortable, ultra-competent cameras.
Konica Minolta DiMage Z3 - 3 MP P&S with a DSLR-esque body, full manual controls via menus. Nikon F100 then Nikon D90.

My 1st Digital camera was a Nikon CoolPix 100 with flash and a PMCA slot to insert into a Laptop for direct transfer.
Using 4 AA batteries this camera is still a Cool Digital camera !!
My first Dig...an Olympus C2100. At the time I got it, the only Nikon Dslr avaible was the D1, which was too expensive for me. The Oly was the closest thing to a Dslr in my price range.
September 2001 Nikon D1x, SB80DX and four 256mb card and nearly $7k never looked back
Sold all my Film related cameras in 2003 Hasselblad 501, 503cxi and Nikon F4s about 20% of what I invested in them :( to continue to fund new lenes and flash

I love this forum. Great comments and questions. Something tells me that someone on this forum could answer my question.. I current have the D300 and want to upgrade. Based on the rumors of new releases this calendar year, what is the best Nokon DSLR in the $1000 - 1,700 price range???

First digital camera was a Canon SD1200 point and shoot, I used that camera alot. Within a week of owning it I out grew it and had to buy my first bridge camera in order to have access to manual settings.

For me, a cheap 1.2 MP sony cybershot that was small enough to fit in my fist. Still smaller than any camera I use now, and I'd still be using it if I didn't accidentally put it through the wash (sometimes too small is a bad thing).
First DSLR was a D70, I bought it off my brother for cheap when he needed some cash.
