My first digital camera was actually a Nikon Coolpix 2100 (2003): It was 2MP with 3 power zoom, it had a 3-4 second delay and my son was a toddler so I rarely used the camera to shoot pictures of him. My memory card was a 64mb CF card and a 128 was close to $ 200.00 at that time, things have sure changed. My first DSLR was a Pentax K10

Pete, my first was the same as yours (Coolpix 2100 in '03), bought to take pictures of my first son, hated it for the same reasons you listed. My first DSLR was bought this past April, a D60.
My first Digital was a Digital Ixus bought in 2004 which i had for about 4 months, I then bought a D100 in 2004 and I now have a D3 (3 weeks old) ahhhh.
My first was some small point and shoot that was a gift. Don't know what it was.
The first one I bought was my Sony DSC-H1
First SLR was my D40. Sold that then bought the D300. I won a Canon Power Shot A590 IS in a raffle at work. Still have it. Then I got my D90. I have four of the 6 digital cameras I've ever owned still. I only ever use two.
...the other one does not count, so my real first was a Nikon D50. That has since been converted to shoot IR only, so I primarily use my D300.
Nikon 3700 point and shoot. 5 years + now and still a fine camera. Plenty compact, has a traditional viewfinder too!
Too bad the 2 gig high speed Sandisk card is probably the most valuable part of the camera. :D

An old Kodak easyshare I got for Christmas somewhere around 6 or 7 years ago, I think it was a DX3600, at least after a quick search that one looks the closest. I didn't like the shutter lag or short zoom, but it was a nice camera and my dad still uses it around his work. After that the only 2 digital cameras I've owned are Kodak's P850 superzoom and a D60. I'm pondering buying a super-tiny pocket digicam, but I'll probably just save for more lenses for my D60 :).
My first digital camera was (I believe) a Nikon Coolpix 950 or a number close to this. I took it to Tibet in 1997. It had a lens that swiveled... half the camera swiveled. That is about all I can remember. My first real camera was in 1954, a Kodak Retina 2A... film, of course.

Canon Powershot A60 (with the good old E18 Lens error) followed by a Nikon D70, then upgraded to the D90 in October last year.
A kodak easyshare 3600 (not sure cant remember, 2MP I think) Had video, it was fun ..... Then the Coolpix5000 (still use it.)

My first one was a Casio Exilem 5mp camera. It wasn't particularly good.
I can't remember the number, but it one of those awfus Nikon APS cameras with Kodak innards - what a piece of junk! My company bought it because someone at Wolf said it was good - like those retards ever get anything right! I used it three months and devised a plan to plug it into the sall socket and kill it...my intern ran over it first, she had learned to hate it as much as me. We took to Purchasing in a box and said - "here you can have it back."
My 2nd digital was a Nikon D1. My third was a Fuji S2, then a S3 then a D200, then a D300, then a D700 and finally a D3X and yes, the D3X is worth every penny you pay for it - it is the best of Nikon Digital photography.

Yeah, I went from a Nikon Coolpix 3700, to a Sony T9 (with Japanese firmware nonetheless!) to a Nikon D40. I'd say that's pretty damn good.
All my digital cameras were Nikon.
First digital Coolpix 5700.
Then when I realized film is obsolete my first DSLR D40 etc.
A fuji finepix A205.
A Sony Mavica it had 640x480 resolution and used 3 1/2" floppy disk for storing images. When I look back at shots I'd taken talk about grainy pictures and really bad color reproduction.
I loved using that camera Ennbr :^)
