Just realized I haven't formally introduced myself!

    Little bit about me:

Name is Nick, age 28, and I'm currently enlisted in the US Air Force; stationed in Germany. Married to my wonderful wife Jenny who graciously puts up with my expensive hobby(s). Jenny is actually my high school sweetheart; we have a little bit of history.

As far as a photography background I haven't been around for very long like some. During my first assignment in Okinawa Japan, a co-worker was into photography. Having a love for art (Who doesn't?), I decided why not make my own art!? I ran to the BX having done not one single piece of research and purchased a Nikon D70 kit (18-70mm Lens came with it). I didn't even know what to do with this thing! Silly me, I operated this wonderful piece of machinery on AUTO for the better half of a year. Finally, I got the courage to start working in Aperture & Shutter mode, reading more and more and eventually graduating from those settings and going FULL MANUAL! Crazy, I know.

I had my D70 for a few years, taking pictures here and there but never really went head first into photography and "seeing the light". Work was work and my list of hobbies grew. I sold the D70 (that was stupid) and went without a camera for a couple of years and shot primarily on point-and-shoots.

Fast forward, still following photographers and keeping an eye on Nikon I couldn't stand it anymore. Luckily, the BX here in Germany was having a Nikon Roadshow. I didn't really expect them to have much, except for a shiny new D300s. It had my name written all over it.

So, without making this a wall of text. I starting accumulating gear, specifically lighting gear, DVDs and books to help me along my journey of having fun and doing well.

So, that's a little about me. Glad to be here; great community!

Maybe we could also add in what gear we shoot with and what accessories we use?

I Like that. Maybe add to this or create a new thread with a picture or list of our gear? Maybe even a picture of the user...!?

Hi, I'm Barry from Greensborough in Australia. I've been using SLRs since 1979 (Pentax ME Super). The digital camera era started for me with a Canon 300D; then Pentax for a while before moving to Nikon with a D60 and an 18-200mm VR lens.

    Current Kit:
    D5100
    AF-S 18-200mm VR DX
    Sigma AF 10-20mm f3.5
    AF-S 35mm f1.8 DX
    AF-S 70-300mm VR (replacing a 55-300mm DX)
    SB400 flash
    Nikon remote
    Manfrotto Tripod

I'd describe myself as an enthusiastic amateur and still need to come to grips with all that the D5100 can offer me. For non-family subjects my photography interests include aircraft, re-enactment events/living history, landscapes, buildings and wildlife. I look forward to meeting you on the forum.

    Hi!
    I am 46 and just got a new D600.
I started with a FM and a 55mm micro lens in 1980, taking B&W and developing and printing them myself. I've had a F5 and a D80, and look forward to getting to know the D600!
    Warm Regards.

    Hello all,

This thread does not seems to be a popular one, but I wanted my first post to be a Hello.

My name is Yulia and from Canada.

As photography background, I have done some studio photography in the past, but gave a long break to photography.

My interest revived again, and started to build a portfolio to start my own studio.

    I have D800, D5100, 24-70, 70-200 VR2, Sigma 50mm 1.4. Lots of flashes, triggers and studio equipments.

105 2.8 macro is on my next purchase list.

I am a long time observer in the forum as guest, and I liked the level of professionalism displayed here.

Learning about photography never finishes, and NRF is a good place to be.

    Cheers

It is not my first post, but I guess it is still polite to introduce myself.

I am Linda and from the Netherlands. I am currently shooting with a D7000 and Tokina 12-24 and Nikon 35mm f1.8, 55-200 VR and 50 f1.4 lenses. I also still own my old D40 and D80 and the 18-55 kitlens that came with the D40, but those don't get very much use. I generally combine photography with my interest in theme parks.

I am reading posts here for quite some time and have learned quite some new tricks already.

    Hello,

I have been reading NR Forum for some time now and thought I would join so I could ask question.

English is not my first language so I will not speak too much. All my equipment is Nikon and I am happy with most of it. I hope to save for some more lens as I am starting to enjoy photographing bird life ( & other wildlife) which is new to me. I am in Australia at the moment and wildlife is very abundant, especially compared to my home country. I would like to buy a lens around the 500/600 mm range but the prices and weight scare me abit.

    Thankyou.

    Sanook.

    Welcome Sanook....

Yes, the 500/600mm lens assortment is a bit expensive. Search the forum and see what information is here about the super telephoto lenses....

    Yes thankyou MSMOTO,

I will search for as much information as I can & I will be waiting for more money AGAIN. I only just finished saving for my new camera body I feel it never comes to an end. I would also have to get a largest tripod. :-(
