Wow, morbid way of thinking about things. :D
I'm a realist and a cynic. Physics attracts us like flies to a Newtonian midden.
where there’s smoke there’s forum fire
Hey, Im Mike from Canada. I shoot wildlife, rock climbing, macro and landscape. I've had a number of shots published in various climbing magazines from Canada, U.S., and the U.K. My flickr url is http://www.flickr.com/photos/squamishphoto/
I recently upgraded from a d300 to a d300s and a d700. Love the d700 to death and am pursuing film making with the d300s. My pile of glass consists of a 50mm 1.4D, AF-S 300mm f4, AF-S 105mm 2.8, and the 14-24mm 2.8
Ive been reading the forum for the last few weeks and thought I'd finally say hi and put in my .02
Welcome Mike. I'm glad your finally chiming in. Lots of Canadians around here lately. I think you guys are bringing down all of the snow to the U.S. with you too :^)
Your activities surely make for some good photo ops, Mike.
Thanks Graphicnatured. Living in BC certainly provides me with endless photographic possibilities. Now, if only the rain would abate and all the Olympic fevered jackasses would go home I could have some peace and quiet around town. ;]
Hello all, I'm a semi-retired financial consultant, former professional musician and photographer. I've been shooting with a D90 for a bit over a year now after running out of money for film a few years ago. Live in the SF Bay Area.
Hi Ted, your link to flickr is broken.
Thanks, it should work now.
Hi! I've been following this site for a long time, and always want to post comments, but have up to about 3 minutes ago been too lazy to register.
Well, now I have! Pleased to meet you!
My site is http://www.fioritofoto.com
My wife and I both shoot, and will be doing a commercial for a local TV station in T-minus 58 minutes; wish me luck!
Thanks,
Nik Fiorito
Welcome, Nik. And good luck on the commercial. Is the commercial for your business, or was your business hired to produce it?

You know I was just thinking how expensive film has become. I just bought some Fuji film and dang my wallet took a hit! Digital has spoiled me so bad! Hey is that a picture of you and your band?
Welcome to the forum nfiorito good luck with your shoot.
That's a picture of Charlie Neville and I at the NAMM Show in 2006.
Velvia and Kodachrome were my true loves for years, but at $15.00 for 36...
Hello everyone,
Signing in from Canada.
I'm just outside of Toronto in the suburbs and I'm really liking NR so far.
Welcome to the madhouse, floresfoto !!
Welcome aboard floresfoto.
Hi
I'm Gavin and I was born in Zimbabwe, and have spent time in New York, South Africa and have just moved to Israel. I started photography about 5 years ago with a video camera that also took stills.
I like the idea of capturing the moment and, whilst I still own 2 video cameras, I prefer stills. I purchased a D40 and sold it as soon as the D40x came out.
I spent many happy hours with that camera and upgraded to a D300s and then to a D700 (about a month ago). I also have a D90 which I keep as a spare.
I enjoy landscape photography and have lately become very interested in portraiture.
I missed this thread when I enrolled on the forum, I'd like to suggest that it be made "sticky."
Hi, my name is David and I am a photoholic. They say admitting your problem is a first step. I hail from Minneapolis, Minnesota and love to shoot wildlife and landscapes. However Weddings and events pay for my habit. Looking forward to seeing more great images from all of you.
Hi, my name is Tim and I live near Chicago. I recently purchased my first digital camera(D90) and I'm blown away by the intant gratification and how easy it is to experiment with a digital camera.
Hi guys,
I'm Andrew, I'm a retired engineer and I am English but currently live in Mayenne in France.
I am into classic motorcycles, working with wood and oh yes, digital photography. I currently own the D5000, 18-105mm and 70-300mm lenses. My next purchases will be a 35mm and a panoramic head, but after that I will just settle down and see what I can do with that equipment before I buy anything else.
Great forum - thanks to all who help with it.
Hi, I'm enthdegree! How do you like me so far?
I suppose I will give a more formal intro since I have been around here some.
Name is Travis and I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. I work as a geologist and usually have to drive all around the state. I enjoy taking pictures of all sorts of things, but I seem to find more animals then anything while I am out in the field...also depends on my mood and what I happen to see that day.
I got my D5000 2 months ago and have the Nikon 18-200 VRI and 18-55 VR lenses. Had a Fuji and Kodak P&S cameras before the Nikon.
Next upgrade...one of the Nikon macro lenses??
Bonjour
I live near Montreal, in Quebec, Canada.
I am a software designer since about 25 years, lately doing Java and Silverlight .NET stuff.
I have been going around the north and central continent, camping, kiking, motorbiking and taking tons of pictures. For the last 3 years, my photography has taken me to Europe and soon will hopefully take me to China.
I am currently shooting with a D700, SB600, 27-70 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 VR2. I do my macros by putting Kenko extension tubes and found it fairly good.
Hi! Tommi, Finland. :)
Hello all, and welcome. I've already introduced myself above, but a question for admin/moderators.
Have you done any rough-and-ready analysis to where NR members come from? It seems truly international and is one of the friendliest forums around.
John
