The 7D can leave traces of a previous photo on an image. Canon seems to think they can fix it via firmware but they're still studying the problem. Some over on the CR forums are calling this a new "feature", multi-exposure mode, and not an "issue" :^)

Barely visible as they call it is not the word I would choose to describe this ugly phenomenon.
Firmware may mask this but I doubt it will fix it.

When I first looked at this, I thought you meant the red under the wings, but now I can see the ghost image. Appropriately spooky.

Agreed, that is not a firmware problem, and it has to be as a result of Canon pushing their sensor to do double duty as a still, and video camera.
I'd be really pissed if I had just bought a 7D. Although I've asked the "cannuts" over at CR forums if they've had this problem and so far no one's said they have. Maybe they just don't want to admit it :^(
Appears to be exactly the opposite effect I would have expected. Wells which built up less charge the previous shot seem less sensitive the next? Is that what you're seeing?

Just like the Black dot thing on the 5D MKII, AF issues on the 1D MKIII, Canon just does not stop to amaze me. Always the highest numbers MP, ISO range etc. we can only wonder what issues we will find on the new 1D MKIV , we are so lucky to be Nikon fans

Well we really can't say Nikon's never had tech problems with their cameras. I mean after all the D5000 got recalled soon after it's release too. But it is a very strange problem and for canon's "top of the line" cameras to have such problems back-to-back is pretty surprising.
Yes Nikon had power problems, so did Canon with my old 40D they just kept it quit, I had an un-related issue repaired on my 40D and it was returned with a new power supply installed also. At least Nikon was quick to recall and the the issue fixed

Nikon's good at eliminating problems, in the design process too. That's why they rarely surface to us.
Canon leaves the testing stage of the design process to the consumers :^) Suckers!
