I bought this lens when it first came out and never regretted my money. It's Nikon's very very best !!!
Adamz: No I never used the AF stop buttons. They are a bit out of reach, and when I take pictures of fast moving planes, I have other things to worry about like keeping the plane in the frame and stop shaking ! :o)
Note that I always use it with a TC 1,4 at full focal length (420 mm), and things get very shaky, especially using shutter speeds of 1/160 or even 1/90 at times, when I get carried away. That's for propeller aircraft of course. Jets are easier.
