I am sure some of the changes will have to be tried on item at a time to see how they work
Thanks for the work on the forum to this point, Pete

I'd like to say something about this that has been bothering me for a while. Some people here seem to have an obsession with setting up rules and I don't see the point. Things appear to be working quite fine, so what is the point? As long as the forum remains respectful there is no need to impose arbitrary restrictions.Rules require a "police" to enforce them. And I find the tone of some of the comments really annoying. In particular those posted by adamz. Don't post a big picture or you'll be banned for a day. Don't go off topic or you'll be slapped in the face... it is ridiculous...
Anyway, you guys set and enforce the rules.
See waht I mean? This is what I've been trying to say. Seba basically is telling you what I've been warning you about. YOU WILL KILL THIS FORUM IF YOU START MAKING RULES UNECESSARILY!

Your are talking like the rules we are trying to create does not allow anything to be done here
Why are you a moderator if you strongly believe that NR should have no rules, period

I'm with Pete. If there are no rules how do people know what to expect in terms of what they can do on the site without getting called down for it? As it is I think it is unfair for a moderator to warn people about big images since it's not written anywhere that you can't post them. I'm not trying to pick on Adamz, I'm just making a point. If there's no rule that says a thread with questionable things should be labeled, how would alpha or someone who isn't interested in having dreams about carrion going to know to avoid it? (It was a nice picture, Adamz, of one of the most disgusting things I've seen.)

Yeah! Sometimes some "things-I-do-not-need-to-see" show up. Well you know what? I don't want to see them! Big surprise, eh? ;^)
I'd really appreciate it if people spoke up BEFORE I actually saw whatever it was! Is that so difficult? Or at least can we have a Mod who'll mark stuff for us, please?

You are way out in left field and as usual on NR, you did not read what I posted carefully. Let's recap shall we?
I never said that I don't think there shouldn't be any rules. In fact, I recall saying that after thinking about it, I agree with the size limits for posting pictures.
What I actually said was something along the lines of "The rules should be simple and few and not arbitrary and lengthy". That's a big difference from saying we shouldn't have any rules.
What I'm saying is...AND PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THIS TIME...That having too many rules that are restrictive will hurt the forums. I know this because I've been a moderator before (so to those who need to remind me, thanks but I got it), and I've also been an admin before (again, I get it so give it a rest). I know from personal experience what can happen if we start being too restrictive. Should we have some posting rules, sure why not? However, do we have any major issues with things as they are now? well, that depends on who you ask. I think at the very least, we should create another more open photo thread and perhaps make the PAD thread a bit tighter. A bit is the key word here.
As for guidelines as can what be posted and what is inappropriate, I think ultimately, that's up to admin.

Right now there really are none right, and without getting into a war on this one Gentoo I actual hoped that this thread would get the ball rolling, and the ball is rolling, and you are right Admin will decide on them, which I think he will
