Like many of you, I check out a number of Nikon-related sites, probably too often for my own time constraints. When it comes to Nikon cameras and lenses, Thom Hogan’s site is as good or better (IMHO) that any other site I can think of. I also like Digital Photography Review a lot and some of the Fred Miranda material. And I peek in on a bunch of other sites I won’t bother listing here.
Hogan’s insights, forecasts, and analysis is thoughtful and usually spot on. When Hogan reviews a camera or a lens, I read it carefully, although I don’t always agree, of course. For lens analysis, I feel Bjorn Rorslett’s Naturfotograf.com is as good as it gets. Aside from cameras and lenses, I appreciate Hogan’s analysis of the whole Nikon scene: business, overviews, criticisms, etc.
As for his site being a “money-making machine,” I am sure Hogan is chuckling at that remark. I don’t agree at all. Hogan does not have the usual ads (other than his own work) and is careful in what he recommends. I, for one, am very grateful to have Hogan’s insights available and for free!
