A D800 is coming but within the next 2 months?! With better specs than both the D3S and D3X?! I don't know but I think I have to go out on a limb here and call BS. Honestly If this rumor is only coming from the one "source" who "spammed" this forum with that same info and hasn't been heard from since, it just makes it look like this "rumor" is only meant to kick up web traffic.

These specs have been floating around all year long and this is suddenly new info because it's supposedly coming in the next two months according to one "source"? I know it's just a rumor but wow this doesn't bring anything new to the table. I really hope it's coming from more than one "source". Time will tell I guess but wow...

Here in North Dakota I can tell you there are PLENTY of sources of BS. ;)

But yea - it reeks so bad of fanboi wet dreams I'm shocked it's not called the "D700 Type R".

(I'm an Evo owner, so especially cracked me up)

I call BS on this for sure. . .I think Thom Hogan has been predicting a 700 something for awhile, but I just don't see why Nikon would do it? The D700 only came out what last year, correct? Usually, they wait a whole 2 year for updates, and 4 years between cycle. . . .

D800 before the end of the year? And with rumored specs?
Nikon sometimes looks stupid, but I doubt they would be that stupid to kill just announced D3s.
It is more realistic that we will have D700s with some D3s features, for video as we all know it is more or less just a matter of firmware but for some reason I am certain they will not make it available for current D700 users.

I doubt that the specs will be better than d3s/d3x but indeed there are some rumors about that. We will see sooner than later :)

Niko,

Apparently, the admin didn't get the info from the forums... so I guess alan_hyatt06 just sent an email to admin about this rumor but now this rumor is also on photographybay... So we have no idea how reliable the source is.. all we know is that there's a rumor... could be true, could be false.

my opinion: it's false... the stats are a bit pushed and a 5th body in 2009? really?

personally I have no reason to be exited, I'm only waiting for the next announcement...

Yes I know where the "source" came from jbl. But still one guy sends an email and suddenly it's front page news? Unless this "source" was more specific about the info in his email then yeah BS.

However maybe we've got ourselves our own version of dpreview's Jeff-C? Jeff only pops into those forums with very brief info a few weeks before an announcement and is usually spot on.

On a the other hand he never spams the dpreview forums with the exact same info in a desperate plea for attention. I guess it's good we "only" have to wait two months to see what's what :^)

I feel sorry for all of you sitting on the fence of a D700 purchase :^( But like I said I don't believe this rumor but who the hell am I to say ;^)

Niko, what if alan_hyatt06 is only someone who received the rumor from the source and started to copy paste it? If the rumor is actually from a reliable source, I believe this explanation would make more sense (Yes alan, this is some kind of insult)

I hope the rumor is true, at least part of it. I have been waiting for a "D800" with 24mp. I can live without video if need be. But I can't see 7 fps on this camera. More likely 5fps or maybe 4. This is something I might be able to afford and keep my wife happy. It would go along great with my D700 and I could trade in my D300.

Would you take it if the new Nikon was a D650(or whatever # we could give it), done more like the Sony A850. No video, 3 frames per second, kind of like a copy of what Sony did and then priced like the A850

Thom Hogan apparently thinks that we are going to get some lenses before the end of the year and they are possibly going to be announced with a new body.. either a D700x-like camera or something like a D4000.

About a possible D4000, I don't understand the D3000 in the first place... why would Nikon release such a piece of crap? So they can release a slightly better version 6 months later??

The D3000 is a D60. I think it's a wise new niche Nikon created - the previous generation sensor with the current generation processing engine.

They get to target the price-sensitive market segment with as much quality as they can per dollar. Previous generation sensors are cheap, and current gen processing achieves lower margins the more units you sell.

When I opened the new thread in this forum "New Nikon D800 (FX Format) SLR" but it was shut down few hours by "NikoDoby" with some unfriendly comments. Now he is himself opened a new thread "D800 By The End Of 2009?!" and inviting people to give input. No problem, I don't have hard feeling. And I'm glad that you're also taking seriously about this rumor.

First of all, I would like make myself clear the objective to write on this forum:
1) I'm not spamming. If I spam, I get nothing. Get more traffic? For what?
2) Someone claimed that I'm canon user and try to make fun of Nikonian. Well, to tell the truth. I have both canon & Nikon SLR: Canon EOS 20D & Nikon D200.
3) This forum talks about Nikon rumor. Since I have some news about the replacement model for Nikon D700 from friends, then I feel may be it is good to share. This will make the forum more existing and interesting.

Again, just to reemphasize that this year there will be no D700s or D700x.

If I have any latest rumor or news, I will post on this forum.

Glad to see you back alan. First I didn't close your thread, second what do you expect us to think when you register here and then proceed to copy paste the same info seven times back to back? Oh and in one you link to an article from Feb. 2009?! If you say your not spamming then why so many multiple post on the same day you join the forum?

So far you've given us info that has been speculated at great lengths by many all year long. So what's new? Give us something more concrete. Why do you think Nikon will announce a camera that is better and cheaper than a D3S or D3X? It's just a rumor you heard from your friends?! Are you serious? I hope your friends are all Nikon engineers.

Ask anyone in this forum and they will tell you that I'm the friendliest guy here!(except soap don't ask him about me :^)

Nikon will most likely make the "D800" aligned with the D3x as the D700 is with the D3. This might make sence I think. What do you think?

Most rumors about this new D800 does not add up incl this picture:

Lets start a rumor about a D650: 24MP, 3 FPS, no video, $ 2000.00 etc, A Sony FF killer

Where would I have found the info and how knows how to get some pictures with D650 on them, they have to be better than the above D800, or just plain silly, what do you think

So maybe release a D800/D3XS model? Maybe but the D3X will barely be a year old Dec 1st so why should Nikon update it already?

Thanks for your explaination. I have multi-posting on to those thereads because they're all discussing about the D700 directly or indirectly. I did not realize that people would think I was spamming. I would like to delete them but there was not button for me to delete. Can you help me to detele them?

Well, I could not tell you where did I get those news or rumor? But I have a quite a reliable source.
In fact I already knew Nikon would launch the D300s this year before the official annoucement by Nikon.

Yes, some of my friends' friends are designers for Nikon SLR Camera. Sorry I cannot disclose more.

If I have any news, I will post on this thread.

OK Alan fair enough you have two months :^) Don't worry about the "spamming" the best thing you can do to make up for it is to participate in discussions here more often and keep us up to date. I'd say just having you back to defend yourself is a good start to proving us all wrong and if this D800 happens with the specs you provide then I'll be the first to apologize to you.

So this is definitely going to be a D800 and not an "S" or "X"? I'd also heard of the D800 a while back but I was told not until next year. Feb 2010 at the earliest. Body would be somewhat different kinda like what the D300 was to the D200 right?

I don't think Nikon wants to wait any longer since they are loosing marker share each day when Canon launched its full frame super excellent 5D MKII in September last year (2008).

If this is in fact true it would be the camera of my dreams and is the reason I have kept my D300 and not upgraded to a D700. I have the glass all ready for FX just waiting for "thee" body. I hear Nikon is working on an all new sensor probably for the D4 in 2011. Rumor has it that there is no mirror. I'm sure others have heard about this as well. I'd love to see a Mark II equivalent for Nikon. Don't get me wrong though, I think the D700 is an unreal camera. I've tried them frequently and love it to death. I really like how you can set the saturations for different scenes such as portraits or landscapes where as on the D300 you have to mix it up yourself. I don't like this on the D300 so I just shoot all raw now and adjust in CS4 and lightroom 1.3.
